For a Volvo, that is cheap. Not expensive at all.

Wait until you need a new headlamp assemble at over 1000 EUR....

I vaguely recall having something similar on a Saab many years back (with Xenon lamps - not quite the Active Main Beam magic in my XC60), & it being a sensor which listed at a few £100 (think the garage got a reconditioned one for me!)

Not sure whether my cover will include such a sensor - wording is of course not specific enough, although it does cover "All electrical components
(including electronic components and electronic control units)"

Guess I need to book it in to be looked at first....anyone else here had this, & got an idea of the cost of fixing!?
Interesting, see my recent thread. Our cars are about the same age and I got this message before Christmas. My dealer investigated and said I needed a new headlight unit, cost approx £900 plus VAT and fitting. I have the Volvo Warranty and I have only just managed to get them to agree to replacement under the warranty. Now waiting for the headlight to arrive from Sweden. It would be rather embarrassing for them if it actually turned out to be a sensor rather than the headlight!

Yowsa! Just read that one: it is properly shocking what warranty companies (including Volvo) will do to weedle out of their responsibilities after taking all our money

I am sure the MotorEasy warranty will be pretty similar (excludes lamps/bulbs): main reason I went with them was that it was almost half the price of the Volvo one, but with this precise risk....& they will have less 'goodwill' in them, no doubt

Might have to take mine down to our local indy Volvo dealer (I need a written quote before MotorEasy will say what they will pay, & my main dealer - who I do like - are over an hour round trip away).

Hey ho....the fun of motor ownership!

Hi all, I have a xc90 from 2011 and I had the same issue. With my case the HCM module has burned and the repair shop had taken it off the car.
I would be very thankful if anyone could please let me know how did you managed to turn off the Headlight rotation while cornering!
The error msg is driving me crazy every time the car starts, and on top of that the button to turn off the cornering is blinking the entire time. (and - Yes I tried that button.)

You can disable the ABL lighting in the menu, but you will still get the error message I'm afraid.

What is that MENU that everyone is talking about? I do not have xc60 so maybe my console is old and I do not have it, or there is a way to enter a menu in the error screen (small 2 lines on the left side of speedometer)? Or maybe somewhere with Vida & Dice ?
Could you explain what you do, please?

Thank you!

Ah, this forum is for the XC60 and S60/v60 but you have the XC90. The dash and sensus system is different. You might be better asking in the XC90 section.

My 2012 XC60 R-design started doing this. The headlights appear to calibrate themselves properly at startup (up/down), so I'm thinking it could be the sensor on the rear wheels as mentioned here, but I haven't found any other references to this.

I took it to an independent shop, but they weren't very helpful. Can anyone give any more info on the sensor and its location? I'd like to inspect it at first.
