S40 2.0d anti skid service (ABS) light

1st is it safe to drive with this fault It came on yesterday after I floored it up a slip road. The cars braking hasn't changed. Is it an easy fix I'm on a budget so would like to be able to fix it myself if it's possible. Where would I start to look for the problem? I've maintained old vw campers and beetles so I'm OK with the spanners.

First you need to check what kind of dtc is in the abs, sometimes the pressure sensor fails in the unit, however keep in mind that abs module is tight to the immobilzer. There is a way to use used unit but first check what fault it has. Vida would be helpful

Hi I've bought a code reader and it's saying P1934. I've Google it and that's supposed to be a wheel speed sensor? So I'm not sure of the code reader is at fault? I was expecting a code for the brakes or abs???

I removed the passenger side front wheel to get to the speed sensor. Manged to get it of and look down the hole and there's no teeth! How easy is it to replace the ring? Has anybody done it?

If its similar to s60, the ring is not that hard to replace, just need to heat up with propane so it will get on the shaft, has to be done quick or it will shrink.

You can also use the old ring as a drift to gently tap the new one on.

Quite often it's corrosion under the ring that pushes up and causes it to snap apart. Before fitting a new one make sure everything is cleaned up and add a little bit of grease.

I'm going to have a go at this my self. I've been driving it round and its breaking fine so I'm confident it's just the speed sensor fault that's triggering the abs light. I'll report back when I've don't it.
