It looks like the nasty brown car has failed to find a buyer yet again. I've lost track of how many times it has been advertised...

The car with the broken fuel gauge failed to meet its reserve - again. This time bidding reached £1560 - although I rather suspected the majority of the bids were shill.

Yet again I wonder where the seller goes from here? Cut his losses and sell cheap or keep the car and drive it? We'll see.

...so here we have the answer, the seller is trying a 'buy-it-now' stragety again - this time at £2,000:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353498303...sAAOSw5-lgUcjy

This is a bit like making home made wine: if you put it through the strainer enough times it all gets through in the end :-)

I saw that re-listed this morning too. The market is going to be flooded with so many trying to get high prices, they are only going to go one way, and with more competition its going to be easier to haggle picing down

This one has rumbled on and off for a long time (6 months at least I'd say). Back in February (I think the third ad) it didn't get an opening bid at 2 grand. Since then the owner has had to get a MoT test, and a few issues are emerging:

21 April 2021
PASS
View test certificate
Mileage
102,709 miles
MOT test number
7389 9647 0982
Test location
View test location
Expiry date
20 April 2022
Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
Front Windscreen damaged but not adversely affecting driver's view (3.2 (a) (i))
Nearside Registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of multiple lamps or light sources (4.7.1 (b) (i))
Nearside Headlamp reflector slightly defective (4.1.1 (b) (i))
Offside Headlamp reflector slightly defective (4.1.1 (b) (i))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
rear bumper cover missing
Nearside Front Brake hose slightly deteriorated (1.1.12 (b) (ii))
Offside Brake hose slightly deteriorated (1.1.12 (b) (ii))
Nearside Rear Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security inner sill (6.2.2 (d) (i))
Offside Rear Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security inner sill (6.2.2 (d) (i))
Nearside Rear Integral body structure is corroded but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced outer sill (6.1.1 (c) (i))

So... a bit of neglect, but more worryingly a bit of rust appearing. I'd be a bit surprised if this motor car makes more than £2,000 - probably closer to £1,500.

If memory serves, the seller made a big thing in his listing about how well maintained it was - if he can't even be bothered to ensure all the bulbs were working for the MoT it casts a huge cloud of suspicion over those assertions of maintenance!

With that in mind, £500 tops!

... the car with the RAF Chinook paint (honest, honestly) sold for just £1519 - I thought that was probably about right really.

It looks like the car with the broken fuel gauge failed to sell again (at £2000), I've forgotten how many times it has been offered for sale since January - probably 7 or 8.

I wonder which strategy the seller will adopt next time - perhaps a 99p auction with no reserve :-)
