Default Xc70 electrical problem

I have a 2012 xc70 that broke down on us yesterday.

Key fob in ignition car won’t start. No audible noise from the key fob slot either.

Car says move gear to P- gear selector is in P
Coolant service urgent - coolant is fine
Charging service required
Imobilizer try again message

Seems the ignition was stuck on as my headlights were stuck on.

The RAC came out and checked my battery and it was fine

He thinks it could be the CEM not communicating properly or a fault?

I’ve fitted LED front fog lights recently and wondering if this has something to do with it..

I’m hoping this isn’t an expensive fix😬

Has anyone else had this?

Definitely one for VIDA I think. Any module that is recommended to be replaced by RAC or otherwise is going to be very expensive, and shouldn't be done based on guess work. VIDA will narrow it down, and it may even prove to be something else not too expensive in the end

Thumbs up Car is now fixed

Wee update I got the car recovered to Voltech in Glasgow as I’ve heard some great reviews about them.

Originally it was thought it was an alternator fault but it turned out my ECM was fried on the circuit board due to some faulty wiring down by the gearbox hence the gear in position P message among others I was getting

So I got a new ECM programmed aswell as a new battery with them checking out the wiring. Picking the car up next week when I’m paid as the bill is £1350!!

I can imagine what this would have cost if I went to the main dealers

Confused.
Have they fixed the car for £1350 or taken £1350 and now saying that it could be the CEM?

Yes, it’s not clear. The OP’s 25th May post suggests the diagnosis had been done, as had the fix, the delay being waiting to be paid to be able to settle the bill with the workshop and then collecting the car.
