Got to agree with this, I find the seats in my V90 OK, but they're no where near as comfortable as the seats in my previous V70. Also reports from the rear occupants say the same.

Have to say I find the seats on my 2023MY V60 T6 Phev very comfortable, more so than the 2015MY V70 I also own. Wife thinks differently, but thats no surprise to me. Neither car however is as comfortable as my old 2002 V70 T5, seats and suspension, or my 2004 AWD R. Seats best ever, but suspension was becoming a bit crashy/harsh.
The Phev with the R seats = unbeatable combination. Cheers Bob

The (Nubuck -suede effect) seats in my 2018 XC90 R-Design were very hard, it felt like you sat on them rather than in them. My 2022 same car with Nappa leather seats (which i thought would be harder than the Nubuck ones) is a revelation and very different to the previous car.

There is no contest in my opinion between the pre-2011 seats and current seats (the older seats win hands down for comfort)
I have long legs and thought the Front Seat Cushion Extensions in my new 2022 XC60 Inscription would be perfect – but sadly not. When the front seat cushion is extended to support my legs properly, it also creates a very annoying and uncomfortable side-effect. With the seat cushion extended it creates a void where the two cushion sections separate from each other. Unfortunately, this void creates a ‘pinching’ effect under my legs, which means I have to keep the seat cushion in its fully closed position. I have looked into some kind of custom sized gel pack to fit into the void, allowing me to extend the seat cushion while at the same time removing the pinching effect. It’s a shame Volvo missed this issue, as a design change in the seat cushion extension workings could have prevented this.

I am not very tall but also found the seat extensions on the Inscription to be uncomfortable on a test drive as the extension cut into my calves even when fully retracted
So went for a Momentum which at the time of ordering I could add virtually any up specification and accessory. I find the seats on the Momentum to be very comfortable particularly on long journeys.

I too had this issue on my test drive, but my V60 T6+ when it came I found by lifting the front edge to give more support under my thighs the sensation of the “gap” was significantly reduced, and slightly more so by actually only extending the extenders by 50%. . As I stated earlier more comfortable than my 2015 V70 but not as comfortable as my old P2’s Cheers Bob

I am 6'8" and found the XC90 seats comfortable in the showroom and on the test drive. I liked them with the squab extension all the way out.
I get my car in June so I hope I'll still be happy with the seats on longer journeys. I love the seats in my C70 and S80. The best seats I've ever had were Recaro Sportster CSs.

XC40 seats
I have a 2023 model XC40 B4 - I am finding the seats very uncomfortable after a journey of 30+ miles and my back hurts and feels stiff. I previously had a 2019 model XC40 T5 and the seats were very comfortable. I am not sure what's happened, whether the seats have changed or I haven't set them up correctly. My partner says the same. The seats I had in my 1998 S60, 2002 S60 and 2011 S60 were all wonderfully comfortable, especially the 2002 model.

Drove 2650 miles around Europe in our MY24 XC90 a few weeks ago. And just gotten out of the car after 11 hours and 520 miles of driving from England to North West Scotland.
I am satisfied with the seats. They're vastly better than most car seats. I was however surprised after getting back from Europe and getting into my MK1 C70, just how effortlessly comfortable those seats felt. I find after a few hours in the XC90 I'm reaching for the lumbar support controls and moving that about a bit. I think the best Volvo seats might have been the perforated nappa leather ones in my S80.

I think this seat design issue runs across the range.
I find it's the extenders that are the uncomfortable part. I'm not that tall but am quite wide. The seats I had in my old V70 (no extenders) - best I've had. My 2019 V60 Inscription had the extenders - I seriously considered swapping the car after a few months as even with the extender fully back there was still a ridge that cut the circulation off in my leg. It took about 25000 miles before it softened to the point where it was bearable. I vowed not to buy another Volvo with them, and ended up with a V60 Core this year. It has leather seats, virtually the same design as the V70. No extenders. Both my wife and I both find them FAR more comfortable - the seat is a seat, not a series of ridges and hard lines as on the previous car. It also doesn't have a stupid gap where dirt and dust collect! The fact I have to pull on a bar to slide it back and forth is irrelevant - they're set in place and will stay in that place until we move the car on.
