V40 Brake noise
I've had my V40 for a good few weeks now and just the other day I noticed a strange sound coming from the brake pedal. It occurs when I press the brake and sounds like air being compressed (it's not a hissing noise and it doesn't sound like air escaping). It sounds like this:
https://youtu.be/NSbdVdmPu0c?t=3m38s when he presses the brake in. Mine is not as loud or as pronounced and only happens when you push it quite far in. Now maybe it has been there all along and I never noticed, or it's new and something is wrong. Could anyone confirm if their V40 makes a similar noise? The brakes appear to operate normally, at least so far! Thanks! |

If the souind you get is the same as the video , it is nothing more than the servo doing it's job . As long as the pedal does not go all the way to the floor there si nothing to worry about . When you are driving the sound is usually masked by in car noise , if you operate the footbrake with the engine switched off , you will hear the servo working , as air re-enters the servo .
Nothing unusual , nothing to worry about . If a servo does fail , the pedal becomes harder to press & you do stop , but you require a greater effort on the pedal
