Default v70 headlight units

Hi all

I need to replace a broken near side headlight unit. Do I need to get a V70 specific one? Or will XC70/S60/S80 ones fit too?

Thanks
Rob

What is the year of the car? Halogen or xenon headlights?

Oh one final question - will glass lensed units also fit?

I've found some on ebay which say

`Taken from a 2003 V70, good condition. Please note that this is the earlier type with a glass lens and has standard bulbs fitted.

This type will fit S60 V70 and XC70 models up to around 2004 when they went to plastic lenses. `

I'd prefer glass since the plastic ones just go cloudy

thanks for your help

before you fit them either way I would advise going all round the edge where plastic/glass meets the backing park with some sealant and making sure you get it into the seam all the way around

i also added a thin strip of gaffa over the seam as well all round but that was really more about stopping the gloopy sealant getting all over my fingers while I handled it and it wasn't dry yet. still i reckon it probably adds another layer so why not

point being it helps to stop condensation in the headlights when it rains. it worked on mine anyway, the passenger side one was bad for it and hasn't done it one single time since

(that is if you're getting 2nd hand units off ebay)

Thanks - on the subject of sealing, one of the units I've seen on ebay looks like it has no rubber surrounding the unit (on the top) compared with most of the others. Presumably that's going to be a problem if I can't replace it with old one off the existing unit

I have a pair from a 2007 V70 with polycarbonate lenses. They're not great - need buffing up and sealing but you can have them for the cost of delivery and a small charge for my trouble.

Cheers

Thanks but if they fit I think I'd prefer the glass ones
