Default Engine Cradle/Crossmember Colour Match

Has anyone found a readily available paint that is a good match for the pale bluey/grey colour the 1800 series - and Amazon - crossmembers came in? Looking on the internet is hit and miss as the colours in the images rarely reflect what they look like in the 'flesh'. I always used to paint them black but I might as well try and get one (close to) correct. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1659970891

I was looking at tractor paints, possibly a light Ferguson Grey but saw this.

why dont you get it galvanised ? It will work out not much more than all the primer and paint and hard work you put in and last forever and look clean.

Not all crossmembers were originally gray…
My black ‘62 Amazon’s crossmember was black from birth.
And refinished as original:

Some were black and some owners insist theirs were body colour (which I can't confirm or refute) but the vast majority were blue/grey including, as you can see from the photograph, mine. Hence the question.

In fact the owners who insist their crossmembers are or were body colored are likely correct.
Over the years I have seen dozens of early Amazons thusly originally supplied.

The change to the common blueish/gray occurred at a (thus far) indeterminate moment during the early mid-sixties, after which ALL were the same color that you are trying to duplicate.

I tried to find out what colour I used, an old post said I was going to use this not sure if that is actually the colour or not though: BS 676 from the chart: https://www.smlmarinepaints.co.uk/BS381C_colour_chart

I like Jotun Hardtop AX paint but it does contain isocyanates so proper PPE needed if spraying.

I’m colour blind but looks fine to me.

Grey is 65 onwards only.

Before that they would either be black or body colour
