I see the S90 Executive on auto trader has been reduced to £10,500. It is actually very clean, be interesting to see what happens, it’s certainly thousands cheaper than it was originally advertised at.

The one screaming red flag is the (newly applied?) chrome arch trim.
Classic bodge to cover corroded wheel arches, caveat emptor!
Ah, that was very eagle-eyed of you BicycleBoy, well done. I didn't know about the motor cars from the era prior to the RB, but now you come to mention it the chrome arches do look very suspicious.

I'm wondering whether this one will turn out to be a pig in a frock?

Another lovely day in paradise.

Alan

PS. I've just looked at the photos in the ad again - those chrome spats look very odd now you have pointed them out.

Do you think the second-hand motor car bubble may have popped?

:-)

Ah! I thought our friend from Bromsgrove would not give up so easily after the 240 saloon with the 38/38 Weber carburettor and plenty of rust failed to make its reserve. He/she has placed a classified ad this time, he thinks it is worth £4,000:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284925160...QAAOSwbNdiWZ1W

... well, maybe.

Another lovely day in paradise.

:-)

PS. The motor car will qualify as an historic vehicle in 5 years time - it will be worth £4,000 then.

Looks a nice enough motor but £4k , not at pres.

Bromsgrove isn't that far away, so if the mood takes me I may take an interest in this one as a project car.

Alan

PS. Checking up the tax and MoT history and piecing together a story:

The first MoT for many a day was on 3 Dec 20 at 107,154 miles where it passed with no advisories. I'm thinking that the MoT tester might have been a good friend of the owner. The last change of V5 was on 6 February 2021; it would appear that is when the seller bought it with a nearly new MoT, perhaps it was at that point that he invested a grand in the twbin choke Weber set up? The motor car did only about 1500 miles in 2021, maybe the owner got a bit of a shock at the MoT on 13 December when he/she discovered it needed new sills and half a floor, so he got just the major defects fixed (still expensive I should think) and decided to live with the 9 advisories. The motor car got through the MoT a week later on 20 December 2021 at 106,669 miles.

Now it is August, our friend from Bromsgrove knows those 8 advisories (7 of them involving corrosion) have not fixed themselves since last Xmas, so perhaps it is time to say goodbye to the motor car while it still has a bit of MoT left?

The ad says the motor car has covered 110,000 miles now, so about 4,000 miles this year. The seller says he/she has been using it for work, which is probably proving a tad expensive with twin choke Weber carburettors and gas at nearly £9/gallon. The smart car with a new MoT our man/lady in Bromsgrove bought 18 months ago has cost a grand to get through the MoT, another grand for the bling Weber set-up and is costing £200/month for gas.

... just my imagination of course :-).

Well, I wonder whether it is as nice underneath considering the above Andrew.

I'm guessing £4,000 may be the break even point - perhaps the seller paid £2-3,000 for the motor car early last year, spent a grand on the December 21 MoT and another grand on the Weber carburettor conversion and so is in for £4,000 to £5,000. Running older motor cars is hardly ever a cost-free business though, so I doubt the seller will see so much of his/her investment back.

The market has already spoken: £2,051 would be a fair price, £3,000 would be a very good one.

Another lovely day in paradise.

If you were looking for a 240. Clean MOT, with no reserve, currently at £2000. (although it's had the same mileage since 2016 as the milometer is broken)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a “ busy” MOT history.

Straight looking car though.
