Default S60 P2 Interchangeable Bodywork Parts Query

Hi All

Quick query for all you guys, hoping some of you can help.

Are S60 P2 bodywork parts interchangeable between facelift versions?

I have a 2004 S60 but I prefer the 2005+ facelift bodywork parts, mainly for the fact that the trim parts are body coloured. The black trim parts on the pre-facelift version look rather dated and was hoping to make mine look a bit more up to date and give it a fresher look. My only other option would be to spray the black trim parts on my S60 the same colour as the bodywork, but heard getting the trim pieces smooth rather than being textured can be quite tough, plus not sure if my spraying skills are up to the job of making the finish look good, although this option would be a lot cheaper, so would consider it.

Any info on this anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I went the other route, just refurbed the black bits, masked up and sprayed with plasticote black (or whatever it was called, special stuff designed for trim)

took 10 years off the car in one day

Cheers for the reply.

So are we saying that all bodywork parts on P2 chassis S60s and V70s are interchangeable, no matter what facelift version they are?

Just trying to get it clear in my head before I start looking for parts / a donor car.

Thanks for the reply Stu

I have treated the black trim parts and it does make a lot of difference, like you said took years off the look of my S60.

What I want to do however, is make the black trim parts match the colour of the bodywork, so I will be going from black to silver, and didn't know if it was worth finding the bodywork parts from a facelift P2 S60, or taking off the black trim and respraying them silver. I'm pretty good with a paint spray can, but as the trim parts on the car are textured, I will have to be sanding them down smooth, spraying textured plastic trim just wouldn't look right in my opinion.

It's also down to how easy the trim parts are to remove. I know the front bumper trim is easy enough as I've had that off already, but it's the door strips and large rear bumper section I'm not overly sure about. I'm guessing the door trim strips will have some form of adhesive holding them in place.

I'm edging more to spraying the parts myself, just for cost purposes.

same here I didn't want to risk damage or breaking clips etc that's why I just masked everything up and painted in-situ, at least mostly it's all just straight lines not annoying curves..

on the V70 the rear bumper black bits just popped off as well so that was easy, it's just the doors and skirting I had to work around
