Have ordered oil temp sender (part no 460191)& oil pressure (part no. 1347003) senders from Volvo today £19 & £14 respect. + VAT.

Question is, where do they fit on the B200 ? Do you replace the existing oil pressure sensor that controls the warning light on the dash ? Is this the same for the coolant temp, as there is a sensor on the injection block that tells the ecu the temp ?

Btw, if anyone wants a copy of the voltmeter wiring diagram, I have the original instructions !

Cheers,

John.

When you collect them, ask the dealer's service people where/how they should be fitted. I don't see them refusing this info as you have bought 'new' from them rather than from a breakers.

£14?! Are you taking the mick?! I just payed £45 direct from VDO, thinking the Volvo price was bound to be totally stupid! DOH!

The oil temp sender goes in place of the sump plug (oil change job). The oil pressure sender goes in place of the pressure switch (by the oil filter / alternator). Have you ordered the bushing too? It needs an 1/8" NPT (sender) to M14x1.5 thread adaptor. You can buy them for £5 from lowtension, so if not, I wouldnt worry...

Removing the pressure switch is a total pain in the backside. Its a 24mm head, but you need a ring spanner or deep (spark plug) socket, as its got a metal sheath on it which blocks a standard socket.

cheers

James

I decided to just order the oil temp, as won't have room for the oil pressure + volt meter. Have got the oil temp sensor, so what adapter do I need ? It's packaged up to fit the 240/740 which have the larger sump plug ?

Cheers,

John.

Oil temp / sump plug was always M14 as far as I know. That's what you should have.

The oil pressure sender is the one which needs the bushing, but that doesn't apply to you I guess.

Can you get me that spare Oil Pressure gauge please?

cheers

James

Just spoken to Volvo to purchase the Oil Temp & Pressure senders, and the above part numbers that you quoted are for the dash display standard instruments, i.e. oil temp warning, and oil pressure warning, the actual prices from volvo for the ... are...

Oil Pressure Sender = £71 + VAT

Oil Temperature Sender = £46 + VAT

Hope this helps,

Cheers

There isn't an oil temp warning....must mean water temp sender.

OUCH! For pressure / oil they're £38 +vat and ~£10 +vat respectively direct from VDO. I can put you in touch if required...

Funnily enough I have just installed my pressure sender and wired up the gauge about an hour ago... I'm pushing 4 Bar on cold idle and 5 bar at 3krpm when cold...haven't had chance to warm the oil yet! Those figures are very healthy though, so I'm happy!

cheers

James

Right...firstly you need the order codes. The pressure sender is 360-081-030-086. I don't know the code for the temp sender. Call VDO for this - I'll get you a number in a day or two. Its an M14 thread...er...can't remember any more right now!

When you've got the part numbers call these people!
http://www.lowtension.com

You'll need a 1/8" NPT > M14x1.5mm bushing too - cost - £5

cheers

James
