is your car a diesel ? if so drain oil from sump 1st . the oil filter unscrews have the container for collecting the old oil postioned under oil filter . it takes a long screw thead so try not to drop it as it can be messy the 1st time . you will get a little spilage onto the chasie . have rags ready for cleaning up .

Only just found this thread Ian
I've been running my D24Tics on 10-40 full synth for three years The faq recommends using full synth due to the design fault in the d24Tic leading to low startup oil pressure http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/Engi...ieselLubricant

Having a pressure guage helps. By the way, used amsoil synthetic 15/40 last change Oct 2011, and its done 11000 last 12 months, came out black but not sludgey at all, oil pressure is exactly the same as noted before changing with the fresh amsoil in today. brilliant stuff. |

had a nerdy blab with daniel from germany who works with OE oil suppliers for ford in the usa. AND THEY ARE ASKING FOR THE 0W30 OIL IN NEW CARS TO HAVE SOME ESSENTIAL PROPERTYS TO BE REMOVED AT SOURCE. THIS IS TO CUT THE EMMISIONS FROM THE ENGINE CAUSED BY THE ADDITIVES IN THE OIL (STUFF THAT PROLONGS THE engines LIFE) TO MEET NEW RULES/ TAX BRAKES. The manufacturers are jousting with the effects on this directive with various suppliers , so it seems that the latest 0w30 is going to f*uck your ford focus , v50 ect if you keep the o/e oil in it. WTF. are they saying that 5w40 valvoline is the lube of choice at £18 per 5litres from the factors as an oil change at ford/volvo will fill the engine with dross ? |
