1992 2.3 940 Dials
Hi,
My speedo has packed up, the odometer is still working so points to the unit playing up so need a replacement if anyones got one. I've been researching and seems the older ones are notorious for playing up so is it possible to wire in the later dials. Also my dials have the boost gauge, could i retro fit it to a standard set of gauges or even run an aftermarket one instead incase i can find a replacement with the inbuilt boost. PM if you can help. First wriggle under the back of the car and give the sender unit a good clean/wiggle.
Don't break the tabs holding it together if you pop it apart. I had an intermittent speedo fault and it was a cruddy connection. The plastic connector affixed to the back of the diff if I remember right... Fix for no money is always worth a try.

Nevermind that, 1991/1992 clusters just fail, not even re-flowing helps. You will want to pull the entire spedo apart and change a number of components.
Or you could find a 1993-1998 940 unit and plug it straight in. The newer the better. You can swap your rev-counter with boost built in if you can't find another from a turbo. Unbolt plastic from the back of the cluster, take it apart, 4 bolts behind the revcounter that hold it in the cluster, pull it out, get the other in, that's it. All the clusters have cutout for boost line coming in, it's just covered with tape if not used. |

But ... in this case the odometer is also not rotating, which probably means the sender from the diff is rogered in some ancient way. A trip down to the garage is in order...
