Code readers
Hello based out of london and I currently have 2 ambers.
1. Seat belt pretensioners 2. Headlamp malfunction service required I had to do an MOT and took it to a local garage and spoke to the guy and he mentioned it would cost me £50 to read the code. I mean I understand he had bought the hardware and has to pay for the software but still £50 for what I assume is a plug in to the connector module and wait for it to spit out the code seems to be a bit steep. Also he mentioned he has Snap-On which is a much better product to read codes rather than VIDA or anything else. Not an expert but reading through the forums most of them use VIDA or DICE I believe so not really sure if its all show and no go. Lastly is there anyone in and around London or Bracknell who could help with reading the codes. I did see a thread floating around. |

We need your model and model year to establish whether Vida is suitable.

Yes Vida will work no problem for your model and is the best diagnostic program available to you.
For £135 delivered, I can provide a brand new, tested and guaranteed working Dice communication tool and Vida for free assuming you have a suitable laptop. My long running sales thread is here.

To the O/p take ^ the advice, dip into your pocket and go with the offer as above If you dont have a laptop im sure Simon will help out even if its Just with spec/type one to get to run vida and use dice FYI volvo wanted £80 Just to read the codes last time i asked, 3-4years ago and another £80 Just to clear any without doing any work, so buying your own really does not take long at all to make it a "paid for itself" item in savings

2: software doesn't need renewal 3: no. Only paid version can do software updates. "Free" version lets you read/delete codes, trace faults, full parts catalogue, repair procedures step by step, description of each part and system of a car

I'm guessing I misread your model year as 2011 so apologies.
Vida is up to 2015 model year but regardless does not include any SPA platform models regardless of model year.

He mentioned https://d5t5.com/article/vdash-volvo-diagnostic which is an alternative. Has anyone used this. Or any alternatives for a 17 vehicle. |
