Red face Dipped beam

Hi,
This might sound dumb but I have 2010 S80 showing dipped beam failure. Both bulbs are out, where are the fuses for the circuit? I've searched the handbook and can't find them. Also what are the best replacement bulbs?:

Not sure off hand about the fuse location but bulb type, assuming you have conventional halogens and not xenons, the go for the Osram Ultralife if you have the DRL's on. If you don't have the DRL's enabled, then gor for brighter bulbs such as Osram Nightbreakers.

Both types can be got through Amazon suppliers, just search for 'Osram Ultralife' or 'Nightbreaker'. The bulb fitting, H7 etc, you will need to confirm from the handbook for your year/model.

However, if both are out, it indicates the possibility of a fault elsewhere.

Interesting. The bulbs are easy to replace, so I would try and replace one bulb first and see what happens.

Looking in the pdf of the manual, it's not obvious (to me) which the dip beam is (I assume the full bean is OK?). Fuse 9 in the glovebox appears to be "main beam".

I replaced my bulbs with Philips Extreme, and that was a good upgrade from standard, for around £20 for the pair...

I can recommend autobulbsdirtect as a good source of replacement bulbs... http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks PeteB1 and MartinK for replying. Glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't find the fuse!!
Surprise, surprise it was just the bulbs that had blown. Coincidence both at the same time.

I had a dipped beam go when the car was 2 years old. Changed them both on the basis that if one had expired then the other was likely to go too.

Sometimes they do blow close together, sometimes they don't, there's no consistency. When I got my XC in Aug 2011, I replaced both the dip headlamp bulbs with new Osram Nightbreakers. At the end of Jan 2012, the N/S failed and I replaced it with another NB, then the O/S failed a week later and was replaced with another NB. Subsequently, the replacement in the N/S failed early Sept and was replaced. However, the O/S is still running on the early Feb replacement - but it could go anytime, they usually go when the lights are first switched on
