Default Major T-5R Problem.

In short.

Swapped oil seperator and all piping as per my previous thread. Smoke still coming from dipstick and there seems to be a lot of pressure - the pipe at the rocker cover is blown off by the pressure.

What could be wrong? I am at my wits end here :/

Thanks folks!!

Have you done the PCV? (scrub that..)

You've done the PCV... I just found your other thread...

All I can think of is there is something wrong with the piston rings, which is allowing pressure to build in the sump.

Is it smoke or is it steam?

It's smoke mate. The oil looks good ie no water in it. Bit of smoke from the exhaust too. It is intermittent. Pressure seems to build up in the PCV pipe on the rocker cover then smoke comes out the dipstick pipe. When the pressure goes down the smoke stops.

swapped .. as in fitted a new one ?

One good way to check the breather is to take the actual breather vent pipe off the turbo inlet hose , take the oil filler cap off and blow down the hose by what ever method you like , by mouth is good , if you can blow freely through it should be ok ...

even on newish cars there can be some noticable vapour from the dipstick hole when idling ... especialy on Diesels .

I spent a fortune buying new hoses and a new oil seperator from Volvo and took half the engine apart to fit the bloody thing. The symptoms are still the same.

Compression test ? As already mentioned it could be (worst case) rings. Wouldn't take long to do. Hope for your sake it aint but will quickly alert you to larger problem if it exists.

Good luck

If you run the engine, remove oiler filler and put a surgical latex glove over the oil filler, does it suck in a bit or blow the glove up?

Really hope it isn't the rings

What else could it be though? It's safe to say it's not due to a malfunctioning PCV system :/
