Default V40 t4 rattling sound

Does anyone have an idea where this sound could be comming from(description following)?

I own a '98 v40 t4, i bought it used so I don't know when this started happening.. the sound was there when I bought it.
The thing is, whenever i go off the throttle there's a rattling noise from somewhere under the hood. My mechanic tried to pinpoint the problem but failed so far, he increased the turbo pressure, although I don't know how that could've hekped but it's a nice bonus , he checked the turbo hoses but still nothing.. It's almost like there was something loose somewhere, like a little rock rattling inside a metal compartment.
It's almost like I had a bov, but instead of the whooosh sound I get the rattling noise and it happens every time i go off the throttle, in neutral and in gear (sometimes it can be heard on acceleration too but not half as loud). When in gear the sound persists while off the throttle. In idle it's almost completely silent.

I hope I wrote it somewhat understandable, i don't know how else to explain it, so if there are any more exact questions you have please ask as I'd really appreciate any comment!!

thanx!

Ad some weight to the where exhoust monifolt and exhoust meets.

There is a bulletin for how to do this but I do not know the exact years which applies.

The vibration from engine vibrates the exhoust and it hits the firewalss around by putting clamp like weight (300 gr. I remeber) keeps the exhoust from vibrating.

Thank you very much!

Although the sound seems to be coming from a bit higher than that I'll give it a shot..
I'll check it out and get back to you if it solved the problem.. or if it hasn't

i had the same sound on my 98 t4, it was the waste gate arm on the turbo.
simply adjust it. no more noise

13vs7, I currently have what seems to be the same problem. md4it is correct in that it will definitly be coming from the wastegate linkage. Check it by holding the linkage with a set of grips and operate the throttle by hand or have someone in the car to push the go faster pedal.
md4it, did you adjust yours yourself, how do you gauge when the adjustment is right, do you just take up the slack?
