Default Fitting dashcam to tailgate

I'm considering fitting a dashcam to the tailgate of my '13 V60. Bearing in mind the tiny amount of power it consumes, to save the ballache of threading wires to the fusebox, would it be feasible to splice into one of the wires on the harness under the trim? I will of course be using a 12v to 5v converter and add an online fuse too. The wire I intend joining to powers either the numberplate bulbs or daylight running lights.

Obviously the car is no longer under warranty so I don't particularly care what Mr Volvo (or his team of bandits) think.

What's the worst that could happen? I've spliced several towbar wiring setups over the years and none of the cars ever had a hissy fit.

Probably better to tap into the 12v socket in the boot / towbar wiring / boot fusebox.

Also to consider - I have an S60 so not sure where the DAB aerial is on the V60 but whenever the dashcam on my rear window was powered up I lost DAB reception
