Hi! Your would need to remove 6 fasteners (3 on each side connecting bumper to under wing cover) and unscrew 2 bolts which are undernith of the bumper and about 10-15 inches from it edges. Fasteners can be replaced with self tappers of suitable size.

I put masking tape along the bodywork to prevent any marks when removing mine.

Watch the two bolts (underneath) as they have a tendency to snap off when your undoing them, new ones are still available for about £12. I would wait until after new year and buy the proper plastic rivets to re attach your bumper with, after all they're only pennies.

Ok - I must be missing something here.

Car is in the garage jacked up as we speak.

It feels like the rear of the bumper is being held on by something along the flat surface - see my pics.

Any suggestions as the haynes manual bears no resemblance to my car!!

It is a very long time ago I removed the bumper off my 850 at the time. But here is my guess from memory. If you follow the chassis legs to the back bumper there are two black plates that have screws that hold the bumper inplace. Worth another look. Remember and put tape onto the wings to prevent any scratching.
Best of luck.

arggh... this job should be 5 mins but it taking hours!!

Found the correct bolts to undo now.

First one (drivers side) undid no problem.

Second one - above the exhaust - total nightmare.

Bolt head is now rounded off, mole grips can't seem to get a good grip on it.

Am now leaving the bracket top soaking in WD40 etc in a vain hope that the bolt will move just enough to get it started soon.

Access is so awkward with the exhaust in the way, plus if I cut the bolt head off it still won't solve my problem as the stud will be left in the bumper cross-peice, meaning that I still won't be able to get it off...

GRRRR

I've decided to re-assemble and try to squirt WD40 onto the top of the bracket on a daily basis until Saturday when I'll try again.

I think I might have to file a bit of a flat onto the (now) round bolt head so the mole grips can get something to grip against.

What a pain!!
