C30 1.6 Petrol flexipipe/CAT
The wifes C30 has failed the MOT on a split exhaust flexipipe. The garage says I need a whole new flexipipe/CAT exhaust assembly. My VIDA/Dice says this is part number 36000894.
Three questions 1. Has anyone ever managed to replace the flexipipe separately to the CAT? 2. Can anyone recommend me a source for this part from their own satisfied experience? 3. Anyone know the equivalent Ford part number, assuming it exists? Stuff you don't actually need to read: I know cheap CATS are pants. But if its good enough for another years use or to get me a few months until I trade it in, that'll do. My garage says that their regular factors don't hold this part, driving them to the arms of Volvo, where it costs £800+ + Vat. 2010 car on 107000 miles also needs new front springs, driveshaft support bearing, gearbox output shaft seal, so all in could head for scrap if I don't source a cheap CAT - Autocar says trade in value of £1600 so it meets its maker if I can't get south of £1400 all in.

a quick search on ebay finds that part number for £150 ish and I would try a different motor factors - I am sure they could get you one in.
Also remember that the cat is worth money - esp the Volvo branded ones so take it to your metal recycling centre - will help towards the costs. As for brand recommendations - I used aftermarket - cant really remember the brand but it came from Auto parts and diagnostics (APD) in the Gloucestershire area and it's been absolutely fine.
