240 daytime running lights not working
For a while now my daytime headlights have not been working.
Still have side (marker) lights working in position zero on switch, and also in sidelight position. Headlights also working fine on switch, just no headlights on position zero. Mine's a 1993 model year. Is this a faulty switch? I know one or two people have posted previously but nobody was sure definitively if it was the switch that was at fault. |

it's probably a faulty relay, they're pretty common. i think it's behind the plastic trim on the side of the passenger footwell, next to the fuse box, but i know that volvo put them in at least 2 different places over the life of the 240 so it could be elsewhere.

I've had a look at the schematics I would offer the following;
1/ The headlights and high beams are indeed energised from a step relay, but the DTR lights are powered straight from fuses 15&16. 2/ Fuses 15 & 16 are energised from the same source: a white wire from the back of your headlight switch. 3/ Fuses 15 &16 also power the lights in your instrument cluster and number plate lighting. If these are not working you should first check that both of the fuses are good, then that the connections are not corroded and then if the the white wire is sitting at 12 volts(ish). 4/ If you don't have 12v from the white wire there are a further two possibilities, that the switch is bad, or the supply to the switch is bad. 5/ The supply to the switch for these lights is the blue/red wire from the ignition switch, check it has 12v.(This wire also supplies things like power window relay, rear defog and left seat heater) 6/ If this supply is good, it's probably the switch. If you have a multimeter you can check it out, but buying another switch might be a good idea at this point. Hope this is of some help. Cap.
