detachable towbar problem
The detachable towbar on my V70 will not come off. I have unlocked it and it is loose but will not come off or reingage. It seems to be stuck in between. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks in advance. Nigel |

Lots of WD and keep trying. Mine seems to have two positions when rotating the release handle and I need to go past the first one to actually get the tow ball out.
If you check underneath the car you should also be able to spray into the mechanism from the very front of the locating point. Hope this helps. Best of luck

WD40 and a lump hammer to smack it underneath,
When i got my xc90 it had a volvo detachable bar but no key, when i finally got round to getting a key the thing was seized solid, Bit of WD40 and a quick smack with hammer and it was off, Quick wire brush and coat of paint later not had an issue since altho i do have a tendencey to leave it on until i bang my knee on it then i take it off

I spray mine in duck oil before fitting and when removing avoiding the ball. Duck oil leaves a lubricating coating when it dries which tends to protect from moisture for up to a year, but does not attract dust once dry.
I tend to leave mine on for the holiday and remove once home. Paul. |
