Default Orwell Crossing Ipswich meet 12th Aug

the meet we held at the Orwell Crossing Truck Park on Sunday 12th July was a good test to how good a venue it is. with a 100% yes from those who attended and permission from the owner to use it monthly we are going to do so.

the next meet will be Aug 12th .....we are aiming to hold them on the first or second sunday of each month.

being straight off the A14 it is easy to get to with no minor roads , parking area is huge as it is designed for lorries to use ( not a problem for us on sundays ).

facilities are not a greasy spoon as some cafes are , not even fair to call it a cafe as when you walk in the first part is like a huge conservetory then it has 3 areas off that with good food at a good price.it has a huge screen tv and a pool table.
also being open 24 hours helps if it decides to p down while you are there , the bar open at 11:00 am till 2:00am.

http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/orwel...ruck_stop.html

all are welcome and there are some good volvos local to us who are able to attend too.

it would be nice to meet anyone whos is interested in Volvos.

Gary

Red face

Well, as before guys, I'm camping, (no bad jokes PLEASE Alec, LOL!!) I'll be their as soon as I can. I'll be on my way home from Hastings that day, (in the R it shouldn't take long, LOL!). I'm off their tommorrow for a week. But I wouldn't be suprised if I come back on Saturday. Gary, you have my mobile number so you can reach me if need be.

See you all then.

Does anyone realise that Volvos main import centre was in Ipswich ?
The place is still there in Raeburn road by the river some buildings by the entrance and a huge car park going up the hill . It was the main Import Centre and training centre , the cars came over from Harwich and were stored there to be distributed . The training centre closed in 1980 and the distrubution centre moved some years later ... well worth a visit i would think !

A bit late in the day but I am driving up to this event early tomorrow morning, so if anyone wants to buy or even check over any of my kit let me know this evening and I will load it up.

Regards, Don.
