Glow plugs
I've just had my V50 2.0D 60,000kms (3rd service, 36,000 miles) in Switzerland.
In the service book it states that at 60,000kms the spark plugs should be replaced. I believe that the diesel engines don't have spark plugs as such so does this relate only to petrol engines. I can't see anywhere in the service schedule that mentions changing diesel 'glow plugs' or whatever they use. Is it likely that these don't need changing at regular intervals or just when they stop working? Thanks |

Due to costs, you usually just replace glow plugs as and when required.
That can be as short as 30000 miles on certain PSA group (Citroen ZX) cars or 50000 miles on others... Not sure what the intervals are on the Ford/PSA engines...but you're right, spark plugs are not the same as glow plugs as you'll find cost wise when you come to replace them, glow plugs, in the UK, usually cost around six times what spark plugs cost.
