Can anyone offer some advise on the problem?
my v70 d5 been back to volvo on a recall, apparently this was to reduce the oil level being to high, they said that during start up excess fuel was bing passed bk into the oil, so new dipstick to !!! worth checking hope this helps

With a bit of luck it will stay that way for 1,150,000 miles.

I'm struggling to find the electronic dipstick menu - manual says there is one on the diesel engine - can you help?

Insert key. Foot off the brake push start and hold for about 10 seconds. Release the button. Then roll the dashboard computer display(on the left stalk) until oil level appears.

Make sure you have no unread messages, so leave the rear doors closed otherwise you get the rear seat belt warning.

Ah, that might explain why I often get the warning when I've opened then closed a rear door.

Default Engine Oil

Use sythentic if you like it shouldn't void your warranty. The only difference between sythentic and conventional (other than the fact one is man made) sythetics are usually of higher quality than conventional. If you want to spend the extra money for sythetic go ahead, but if you're really worried about it ask the techs at the dealer you bought your car from. The techs always know best.
