Locks and Latches - Torslanda
It's odd that after thirty years the back door latches seem to have tightened whereas I would have expected the striker plates to need adjusting to take up wear. The RH door will open if pushed inwards then pulling handle up, so presumably just a striker plate adjustment. Any idea why though?
The LH door has been for some months difficult to open from inside but lately almost impossible from outside too. Will just open if handle is pulled very hard upwards which I don't like doing for fear of damage. Anyway today, as I foresaw a possible expensive garage job, I thought that with the help of Mr. Haynes I would see if I could solve the problem. Mr. Haynes shows nice diagrams and photos but fails to mention that to gain access one needs to be a contortionist! Eventually I managed to adjust the lever so that the lock could be released from outside but impossible to open from inside, very frustrating. Has anyone had experience of this sort of thing and can offer advice? Any information will be rewarded with my eternal gratitude! Incidentally the back doors have been used relatively infrequently during my ownership, and evidently very rarely by former owners. |
