Would need to arrange some kind of carraige as well. that is unless there are any meets anyone is going to that are up closer this side of the country where I could meet to bring the gear home.

The car is Black, tail gate and wings are in really good shape would have to check each door for condition. Bonnet is fubar!

All the electric bits work. just looking for donations. Am taking a few bits and piece's to the national if that's any good to you?

just looking for donations really, as previously stated

It should bolt straight in, but if the ratio is different it'll alter your gearing.

cheers

How would I find out if its different? Mines an auto and this ones a manual so im guessing it "should" be different....

Im still stuck on the difference between an LSD and a locker...Wil it stop me spinning one wheel when I put my foot down?

Ta for letting me pick your brains, Foggy!

The locker will lock 50:50 if you spin a wheel but only under 25mph a LSD will always provide drive irrespective of speed.

Thanks Cumbrianmale, sounds ideal when pulling away in wet/slippery conditions.

Just need to know if its still for sale, I understand someone else may have had it.

There are loads of different ratios depending on transmission (including different ones for different M90s, etc), engine, body style, etc. Manual diffs are generally taller (i.e. enigne speed is lower for a given road speed). Auto boxes tend to have taller ratios than their manual counterparts, and a shorter axle ratio to match.

I believe the ratio may be stamped on a tag on the axle, but I really don't know...take a looksee? If memory serves correctly, the 'standard' manual turbo axle is a 3.54:1 ratio, while the auto is a 3.71:1...or something along those lines? I think the best manual transmission match would be from a 2.0 Turbo, which got a diff closer to the automatic one.

The other thing to bear in mind is that (as far as I'm aware) all FT-engined cars had lockers.

A locker 'locks' the diff solid, as Simon says (ha...). It's kinda aggressive, though, especially for racing. Good for arsing about. An LSD is a progressive device which doesn't lock the diff solid...it allows it to slip a little. They often only have perhaps 30% lock-up, but it's enough...and more progressive for racing.

The Volvo one only operating up to 25mph is a Volvo thing...you can get lockers which don't do that (i.e. most...), and you can modify the Volvo one to do the same.

cheers

James
