Default 2003 V70 Petrol: What can I tow?

So, I have a petrol 170BHP V70.
I currently tow a caravan with an MTLMP of 1250Kgs.
I'm looking at changing to a Bailey Olympus, MTLMP of 1450(ish)Kgs.

Tow car comparison I've done suggests this is a "reasonable" tow but suggests that it might struggle a little, especially on hills.
I've done a BHP per ton calculation and it comes in at 44, more than the Caravan Club minimum recommendation.

But, I don't want to be stuck for power as that is why I bought this car in the first place.

And before you all say it's torque! Yes, I know a diesel would have been better, but I couldn't get one in my budget at the time.

If you look at your chassis plate it has 4 weights on it,

Take the biggest number and subtract the 2 lower numbers and that will give you the cars max towing weight,

Basically what your doing is taking the cars maximum rolling mass and subtracting the 2 axle weights of the car, the remaining weight once calculation is done is max towing weight,

Around 1500 to 1800kg i think from memory depending on spec of car

Yeah, sorry, not so much legal weights. I should have worded it better.

More a case of, what will the car pull comfortably.
I don't want to get a caravan 200Kgs heavier and go from forgetting I have a van on the back to struggling to get up hills.

You could always adding 200kg of ballast into the current 'van to see how the car performs .

I'll resist the obvious joke about the Mrs....I wouldn't survive it.

It looks like it is going ahead anyway, so I'll cross my fingers. It can't work out any worse than my previous outfit, as long as it doesn't becoe too thirsty.
I'm hoping someone comes on saying, "Yeah, I tow a 1500Kgs Hobby with mine, No problem"..........
