Red face Wow!

Wow! Now there's proof positive and testament to the solid engineering of a Volvo.

Surely Gotenburg's finest could do something to recognise the achievement (assuming that the Ford beancounters in Dearborn don't scupper the idea!)

And not a single stone chip ;o)

I'll be overtaking him soon with my 200,000 850 T5 - I've got a set of axel stands and a brick for the gas pedal

Surely when the time comes to retire the car, Volvo will buy it for the museum.

Wow ... there goes my pet theory about this car: " sure any car would do it with 10 replacement engines " ... it really is incredible that the same lump lurks under the hood!

How about honourary VOC membership for this guy?!

Cheers,

Anthony.

I have actually met Irv and seen his amazing car up close.

Back when he hit 680,000 miles, he thought surely the engine must be wearing out by now. He had it taken apart but his mechanic told him it was still as good as new. It hasn't been touched since.

He also had a second gear synchro replaced, but that was it.

Volvo gave Irv a 780 Bertone Coupe when he hit one million back in 1987. He was also presented with a C70 when he did two million a few years ago.

The previous record holder was a VW Beetle in California that had something like thirteen engines and fifteen gearboxes. Now THAT'S cheating!

Cheers,
