Default UK or Ireland based 200 series leather seats wanted...!

Hello! New here, and I finally own the car of my dreams...

The seats are a little beat-up, so I'd love to replace them with some lovely 240 leather ones.

So does anyone have any!? Or know of any that are going for cheap (in the UK or Ireland)

Hi there, welcome,

I like that car - watched it on ebay.

Watch out for people breaking a later 240 GLT estate - they mostly had leather and the seats will fit yours, although some tweaking might be needed to make the rear seat work in an early model.

Please post more photos of the car. What are your plans for it?

By the way, I'm making one similar... yours is the real thing of course, but I'm converting a later 240 to look like the early model.

Hey John,

Cheers - I haven't actually seen the car yet, am collecting it on Tuesday.
My first task is to replace the seats. The driver's seat is ratty at the minute, that's as much as I know. I see with your red project car, you're talking about Alfa seats/door panels, is that correct? Have you fitted those in yet? I love the look of those Alfa seats, but would imagine the rear seats would be a hassle to fit, no?
The banana estate comes with a set of 18" alloys. They'll need spacers apparently, but I'd like to sand them down and paint em white. I don't know though about clearance in the arches, but I'll ask around when I locate spacers I suppose!
More photos to come!

I saw that on eBay too!

Technically you can fit whatever front seats you like into any car you like, you just need to make some brackets to bolt the seat to the runner. I usually just go to my local scrapyard and take a look around to see what I like. Alfa Romeos always have good leather seats. (I had alfa 156 frontseats in my old 240)

Ive never changed rear seats though.

Ive done this a few times with various cars. I fitted Rover 620Ti seats inyo my dads Ford Escort mk1, Afla 156 seats into my old Volvo 240 and mroe recently a pair of Rover 820 Recaros into my current 240.

Its not a difficult job to do, just time consuming to make sure your brackets are right.

Heres some pics of my Recaros in my 240. The back was a bolt on affair but the front required a bracket making to bolt the seat to the runner and keep strength:

Good luck. Youll be able to mock up something Im sure

Nice!
What are those back seats from? Have you two same-size seats in the back then? (I mean, they're like 50/50 in terms of space taken)?

The back seat is the standard Volvo 240 GLT full leather seat. Ive left that in and just changed the fronts to Recaros for more support

Hello

Nice motor!

I have a full black leather interior from a 92 240. It's in excellent condition.

I've sent you a PM with my contact details.

Cheers
Simon

You could get dark grey cloth. Leather only came in black or tan.
