1996 Volvo 960 Saloon LPG Converted-For Sale
For sale is my LPG Converted, P-reg Volvo 960 saloon, Purple,
2.5 litre, about 118k miles. MOT till October, Please read below description carefully. Although it is a good runner I am selling it as spares or repair, as it has a leaking head gasket. Car had this problem when I bought it in 2011, although I wasnt informed of it by a certain car dealer in Bolton. The good thing is that water does not mix with oil, and all the leaking water evaporates, with only tiny bit of water visible on the dipstick. After treating with permanent head gasket sealant it uses a pint or two of water a week. I have been using it like that for a few years and have done around 18k in it, without any problem, but please have in mind that it will probably give up at some point, but might as well run for another four years.. Another slight glitch is the PNP switch, car starts first time every time but if you switch it off to quickly (without driving a couple of miles or so) it will sometimes refuse to restart. Few minutes wait usually sorts it out and if you ask nicely she will start again. It is an intermittent problem and never bothered me much. Good points: LPG works without a problem – when I bought it I replaced Romano injectors, with brand new set of Valtek injectors, so they have done less than 20k. Tank carries about 50l of LPG and range is around 220-230 miles. MOT till October. It never needed much and it should not need much for the next one I presume. Low mileage for these. It has grey half leather electric memory seats at the front, rest of the upholstery is in beige. Overall it is a good banger and cheap to run with LPG and low maintanence cost, it will be a shame to scrap this bulletproof volvo. Offers above the scrap value. These two problems could have been easilly hidden at the sale, but I have been honest about it, although I could have missed things, so please give me a call and ask questions or best view yourself. Car is in Pickering, North Yorkshire. 07749601211 Sold as seen. Regards Peter

I take it the photo's are old showing the romano injectors?
One possible cause of the problem could be a leak between the gas and water in teh vapouriser, that will cause what looks like a head gasket failure |

I assumed it was head gasket, as after I have filled the coolant with K-seal the amount of water it used had reduced by a bit. It is safer to assume the head gasket failure if you thinking of buying. Best regards
