2002 D5 Passenger window operation
I bought a 2002 V70 D5 in Nov 11 and am generally delighted – brill mpg (av over 50 but I drive gently) and so far only a few little bits have played up but now it’s time to try and fix them.
The first one is the passenger side electric window operation. The window can be operated up and down using the switch in the drivers door but it doesn’t move at all (up or down) when using the switch in the switch in the passenger door – so I assume window motor etc is ok. The door locking switch in the passenger module works ok. I thought it would be a simple “clean the contacts” job but when I took it out I was expecting a mechanical switch and not the force sensors and rubber mat affair. Anyway read up about it and cleaned it up as required (it was pretty good anyway) – looked over the PCBs and saw no blown components / overheating / discoloration etc - as I had it apart I ran a solder iron over the larger connections to reflow them. Put it all back but still as it was before – i.e. window switch no good but door lock switch ok. Tried a UEM reset 3 times but no diff. So would I be correct in assuming I need to replace this module or is there anything further I can do or any tests I can run ? If replace the module complete (I’ll be looking for a used one off ebay) will it need to have SW reloaded by a dealer ? I think I’ve read on the forum that you can replace the upper part without worrying about SW but if you replace the whole thing then it might work ok or you might need to reload SW it just depends how lucky you get ? If it does need SW can I buy the right equipment to do it myself or is it truly a dealer only job ? All / any advice appreciated Thanks Jools |
