Question 03 V70R Heavy Steering

Hi all!

Wondered if somebody might be able to help please?

Got in the car this morning to find that the steering is suddenly very heavy. Not as heavy as when my last one pumped out all its PAS fluid as it's still (just) drivable and hasn't got any worse over the 50 odd miles I've had to do in it today.

Had a quick check and there's plenty of fluid in the reservoir (topped it up slightly to be safe) and I can't see any visible leaks around it, the pump or what I could see of the servo(?) and other hoses. There's no whining noise that I can hear and everything else feels fine.

My local indy suggested the non-return valve in the reservoir might be blocked/broken?

Anybody got ideas about what I could look at first before it goes in on Friday to be replaced, or if it's something I can replace myself? Not done a lot with the car, but pretty practical and logical.

Oh, and it's not a flat tyre

Thanks

Paul
