Default D5 Swirl Actuator stops

Hi All Just spent 30 mins writing an in depth post only to loose it just before I was going to submit it.

Any way patience was already at a low ebb, basically the actuator arm has come off the actuator shaft, and the link to the swirl arm has fell off at swirl end and dropped behind auxiliary mounting bracket (now retrieved after 2 hours).
I browsed the thread on which i was writing, can’t find the thread again, but there is talk of actuator stops.
Can anyone see problems with the following?

Form a bracket to hold actuator arm on actuator rather than gluing.
Form a bracket to limit end float and prevent link arm falling off the swirl flap.
Provide fixed actuator stops just before swirls fully ope and closed to prevent straining linkage and ball joints.

Thanks in advance Phil

hi Phil
I tackled the problem in a different way, rather than fit a stop I modified the arm so it " stretched " at the end of travel , this has been 100% sucessful since fitting

but decide for yourself the repair has been well documented here

Ive fitted a rubber bung, on the end of a home made "L"bracket, to take the strain out of the arm, just as it hits the end of its travel.

Same as the 'stop bracket' on page 12 on the bottom link of Gallot663 post above.

Im hoping that will prolong the length of service of this troublesome item.

Yes that photo was of the bracket that I made on my car and it never missed a beat in 6 years after doing a DIY repair on the arm and installing that bracket.

Hi Gents
Thanks for the input, I have got the car back on the road but not done the stops yet.
Apparently my car should have the early link but it has a worn out latter type, which no longer latches on at the head end had these issues at 30k under warranty.
By way of a repair I tapped out the actuator spindle m5 and drilled the arm for a countersunk screw.
I have fashioned a kind of a leaf spring to hold the link on, in fact I am still running the old link at the moment it's working fine.
I have a new link which I will fit in the new year and attend to the stop mod.
I will try and post some pictures too (do you need to use a host for pictures)?

Merry Christmas Phil

Don't NEED a host, but the pics have to be a certain size etc. A host is probably easier. Look forward to the pics of the mod. A lot of people would benefit.

All the best.
