Default Book time for Maintenance Error?

I have a 2016 V40 Inscription D4 Geartronic and the Book Maintenance warning light has started to appear every time I drive the car. The car is approaching 80,000 miles, however the service status indicator shows that it is 4 months/14000 miles away from its next scheduled service.

Initial thoughts were that the oil level was too high but the oil level indicator is sitting at maximum. Not overfilled. (I have had the car for 4 months and have not added any oil to the car in the 4 months I have had it).

Is there something else that I am missing? Is it possibly a gearbox service interval?

Otherwise I am at a loss as to why the service indicator is coming on 4 months ahead of the schedule.

When was it last serviced and was the reminder reset at that time? If not that may be why it is showing early.
It will annoyingly keep coming up every time you start the car. I had it with SWMBO car everytime for a month before it was due.

The car was serviced at the end September last year by a main dealer, so the time and mileage until the next service are in line with the 12 months/18000 miles service intervals.

Which is why I think there is something else at play here.

The service message wasn't reset at the last service , that zeros the counter .... It will be back on schedule when they reset it at the next service ..

BOOK TIME FOR SERVICE comes on a month before the service is due to give you time to sort a booking ...

Clan,

I am looking at the service book, which shows the last service date at a Volvo Main dealer on 14/10/2020 at 76068 miles. The car has done 79,297 miles now. The onboard service indicator currently shows 4 months and 14,770 miles to next service. (Pic attachted)

So I disagree that the service indicator has not been reset. Both the length of time currently being shown by the onboard display and the number of miles both tally with the expected values from the service indicator being reset at the last service

So I am at a loss as to why I am getting the book time for maintenance message now.... despite what it shows in the attached pic

I see , in that case the parameters have not been set to the correct trigger values

ie should be

18000 mile service interval
12 months
750 engine hours

They are programmable for different markets
