Default 99 V70 ETM replacement questions

In preparation for replacing my ETM with a XemodeX unit I wanted to move the ETM cable from behind the starter for better accessibility. I attempted to remove the bracket attached to the block at the end of the starter. When attempting to remove the 2 nuts that hold the bracket to the starter the 2 long bolts turned with the nuts. Rather than have the starter come apart I tightened everything up again and came here to see if anyone has a suggestion as to how this can be done successfully. Also I found the ETM cable connector to be so tightly connected to the chassis connector that it would not budge. I don't want to break the connector so would like some tips on that also. Everything else looks pretty straightforward but this is as far as I got. Thanks!
