Default Radio on/off button doesn’t work

Hi forum,
My 2008 v70’s radio will not turn off with the power button. The rotary part works fine it is just the push part that doesn’t do anything.
The radio will turn off when I remove the key or when I open the door with the ignition off.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Ta,
Deano.

Not to sound rude, but is it much of an issue?

The radio can turn off when you remove the key. Although you can’t turn it off with the button, you can still turn the volume down if needs be.

So long as the radio turns off some way (which it does), then it won’t flatten the battery. It wouldn’t bother me that much & I’d leave it alone.

I believe there’s a spring/switch behind the button that can break, so when you press the power button, no contact is being made because of the defective spring. I’m not 100% sure, but its highly unlikely that Volvo sell this part (the button) as an individual item, so a breakers yard might be your best bet. It wouldn’t surprise me if Volvo told you buy a new radio! Its worth checking with them though, but don’t be surprised if they tell you they don’t sell the button alone.

Personally, I’d leave it alone. The radio can turn off at the end of the day by removing the key & if needs be, you can turn it down. You just can’t turn it off with the button. Its not the end of the world & probably more hassle than its worth trying to source the part.

I’m not being rude by the way, I’m just offering you my opinion. The only other thing I’d suggest is going to somewhere like an automotive electronics place & seeing if they know a way to fix it.

I never turn my radio off. I just turn the volume up and down. If my radio on/off button failed, I wouldn't notice.

I use it to mute the radio, if a passenger gets a phone call or something. But to turn off - that's very rare.

Thank you guys.
It was my Volvo indie that pointed it out but as you say it turns off when the door is opened.
