Default Spare Wheel

Hi Everyone,
Im soon to take delivery of my new XC60, I have requested to have a proper spare wheel instead of the inflator one. Its just occured to me about storeage. Does the 2012 XC60 have anywhere to store a temp spare wheel?

Also can anyone tell me of their experiences of roadside flats utilising the inflator kit ?

Yes all XC60's have space for the tempa spare wheel. it is sited under the boot floor. Personally I much prefer to have a spare wheel be it space saver or full size.

Did you manage to get one included? There was a thread a while back about this, at the time Volvo were saying that they would no longer supply them.

Sealing kit only comes as standard on MY12.

Once youve come to your agreed purchase deal with which you are happy just say "give me a spare wheel and I will buy"

I always have one little thing left that I want that I havent mentioned when buying a car and once I am happy with the deal I say " you have a deal with free metallic"..or "you have a deal with free rain sense wipers" or "you have a deal with boot liner" etc

If the answer is no "proceed to exit"...!!

"No" to me is an eventual "yes". No to me is a yes in disguise!!

Yes is good. No is bad..!!

(unless of course the deal without the free spare tyre is fab)

Regards

I was lucky enough that at the time I've ordered my MY12 the spare wheel was still a free option so I took it but on my previous car there was no such choice. I had to use its inflator kit once due to a puncture and I must say that it was much easier than a change of wheel on the roadside and a few days after I took the car to my dealer who was able to repair the tyre properly.

To summarise although I prefer the spare wheel because of its versatility compared to the inflator kit that is no use in some cases (e.g. slashed tyre) for roadside practicality the inflator kit beats the spare tyre by miles which is especially valuable if your car is also driven by a lady as I am guessing most women would really struggle shifting the massive XC60 wheels about while the inflator kit is usable by anyone who can follow simple instructions regardless of their muscle mass.

How much is the inflator kit?

Could you not get one of them and you keep the spare and drop the inflator kit for the next owner?

Sounds like an idea worth putting to the dealership. I shall certainly attack it from all angles, as Im not overly impressed with the fact that I was informed about this till the last minute.
