Scafell pike
On holiday with Mrs Anadin (abbreviated for some of the headaches I receive from some of the nagging), went to scafell pike and generally exploring the lake district
Thought I would share some pics of the car.

It's not running right, but starts everytime now after replacing the relay in the relay box at position 12 according to mac's thread.
It's missing and lumpy, but through that it's comfy to drive and I love to drive it . Throws petrol out the back - it's like driving a not so seriously wrong uncle bucks car lol. Hope to do snakes pass in it on the way home. Suggested to the wife about picking up the part that you offered and I got a small speech "this is our holiday it's not about going round the country and picking up bits for your car" Bleg women!

Andrew, I'll reply to your PM here, as my inbox is almost full and tbh I can't be arsed clearing it out!
So, you've replaced the relay, rotor arm and dizzy cap, so that's those ruled out. Have you changed the king lead from the coil module to the dizzy? If that it failing and arcing out, it can cause all sorts of wierdness. Flames from the exhaust, huh? Colin McRae eat your heart out! Now, chances are if it's backfired enough, the cat is goosed anyway, but I can't remember where the o2 sensor is on the B18u, pre or post cat. If the o2 sensor is reading wrong, this could cause overfuelling and/or incorrect ignition advance, leading to misfiring etc. This would be made much worse if the cat was knackered and the sensor was post cat. Another overfuelling issue could be the pressure regulator. If you've ever changed the fuel pump, it could possibly have been for a multi-point engine and they run much higher delivery rate, possibly killing the pressure regulator. I'd personally rule out an inlet manifold leak, as that would cause lean running, rather than rich. Another possibility that causes all sorts of wierdness, is a faulty coolant temp sensor. I had one go down (well, the wire to it broke) on the 460T and it ran constantly on choke as the ecu thought the car was cold. I can't remember where the sensor is on a B18u, but on the B18FT it's near the thermostat, pointing toward the front of the car, with two wires. The single spade connector around the side of the head is for the guage. I'm presuming you've read the codes btw? Anyway, tell your missus that I only live about 15 miles from the Manchester end of the Snake Pass. I have a cute baby for her to go all gooey over and you'd both be made to feel most welcome

Yeah, codes all read on socket 2 for fuel and ignition
I get 3-4-3 - relay coil no voltage, replaced dizzy, arm, all 5 ht leads, spark plugs and lastly the coil. just need module and I'm then down to ecu or wiring fault. (hence chasing the ignition hoping that will get it) I have also got 1-2-2 air temp sensor faulty or no signal and 3-1-3 charcoal canister valve faulty. I have never changed the fuel pump or the fpr. There is a sensor with 2 wires on the front as you describe...I'll change that when I get home hehe. I'll speak to my Mrs and tell her it's only a few minutes down the road lol Cheers for the help BTW yardy
