painting car
Hi there,
I'm considering painting my 460. I have just one simple question. As the rear wing/spoiler is made of sponge like thing (lots of pores) does it need to take any special primer or just painting it in the regular fashion is ok? Cheers |

If it's the same sort of spongey crap the old Ford spoilers used to be made of I'd give painting it a big miss, even if you can get the paint to stick to it you're going to have to add plastisiser to the paint otherwise everytime any pressure is put on the paint it will crack. I've seen loads of these types of spoilers painted in the past and they have all peeled at one point or another. If your painting the car, remove the spoiler first.

It's basically something that's added to the paint to make it flexible.
It still cracks though after a while steve
