Front Indicator Query

Hi, I have just been refurbishing the cloudy headlamp plastics on my 2007 XC90 and in doing so took more notice of the headlamp indicator assembly
layout.

Obviously I'm aware that the front indicators are the lower centre units but why are the outer edges of the headlamp assembly also amber as if they were part of the indicator because they don't actually do anything?

Side marker light, should have a 12v 5W capless bulb fitted and come on with the side lights

Thanks, the joys of easy XC90 headlamp removal.

Both bulbs U/S but I had some spare so all sorted.
