We're new to Volvo ownership, we bought the car in August and have since covered about 2.5k without mishap, except burnt out points.
Burnt out points may indicate a faulty condenser.
The paint code "Farg" is on your chassis plate, above the brake and clutch master cylinders. 95 Light blue? Sometimes called "Ice Blue". Post the number and I'll tell you what it is.

Hi Derek

Odd really, you're the 2nd person who's suggested 95 Lt Blue - the car looks green to me - perhaps it's just my eyesight...

I spoke too soon regarding reliablity - my wife tried to go to the gym at 0600 this morning and discovered a completely flat battery! It's been a little lack-lustre of late, particulaly now that lights, wipers and heater are beginning to feature more often; Can anyone tell me what the correct replacement is? Will a late MGB (12v) battery suffice?

Cheers

If you have the MGB battery and it fits the battery tray you might as well use it as long as the leads will also fit. Battery type listed is an 071 but the 069 is bigger and will fit but it's a bit tight. The battery does have a job keeping up with cold starts and then low miles in town with fans and lights on. If you garage it and have power, putting it on charge overnight, every few days will help. Dynamo might be getting tired and may need new brushes. Check the fan belt tension. Clean your fuses, especially the top dumpy one.
There will be suggestions to fit an alternator and this is a good idea.
In the meantime try and keep the electrical loads low and keep out of stop start traffic. Dynamos need revs to keep charging.
There is a colour which is called "light green" but that looks more like a yellow shade with not much similarity to blue.
Don't forget to post your colour code.

Sorry about the delay - had a problem with my web browser...

The battery was fine - the bolt holding the dynamo adjustment bracket to the engine block has sheared...

The car is missing its VIN plate so I have no record of the correct colour.

Cheers

Hello,
The original colour code is shown on the plate in the engine bay.It will be a series of digits only ,no fancy name.Of course if the colour has been changed at some time then you are no further forward.

ergh, mine has an 063 on it, and that was the one Gordon replaced because the original was smaller than that!
