I get nowhere near that on average, but get around that on a long run quite easily.
No not much town driving. Some motorway but mostly twisty lane country roads with a 60 mph speed limit. No short journeys where I live. 24 mile round trip to the nearest garage. Summer as well.

Around 2000 miles logged in a V60 P*, 17 UK MPG average over the time.

I might ask Volvo to disable the counter when it's next in the garage.

D4 (181) AWD over the last 11,000 miles has averaged 38mpg. This includes low 30's up and down the hills and 50+ on Autobahns

The mpg has dropped a bit since being serviced and the engine note is a bit louder but ....

Storms along now, once up to speed !

I manage about 42 from our D5 AWD manual, despite it having a new tight engine. My lead footed wife manages 28-29mpg in the same conditions...

Hi dme 123. ABOUT !! could be anything up-to 15mpg either side. There is only one accurate way to record fuel usage and that is to use the brim to brim method

Maybe your wife is calculating the fuel usage properly instead of using the 'Hans Christian Anderson' fairytale telling OBC.

There again if she is using what she thinks that she is using and is only putting in a cup-full here and there then it is hardly surprising that she is getting such low figures.

I regularly see 38mpg from my 110,00 miles 12yr old 163bhp D5 SE Geartronic and better when running long trips at a steady 60mph/70mph on motorways and dual carriageways.

I also get this sort of figure for parts of my journeys, but only part - over an entire journey or series the D5 doesn't deliver that sort of mpg - even my 163bhp D5 v70 was toiling to deliver that economy

Older cars readouts are inaccurate but I've found modern ones to have very accurate mpg readouts.

I've had no trouble getting 60 mpg from the 163 hp D5 V70 Auto even with over 300k on the clock.

My current 230 hp D5 Auto AWD is returning 42 mpg at the moment. I've driven from Inverness to Rye then over to the Thames Gateway without needing to fill the tank. Although it did take 68 litres to fill it up afterwards.

Roy

I don't know how accurate VOC is but this was a casual b road drive with a small amount of dual carriageway today.

Most of our journeys these day are very short trips hence the 36ish mpg on fuelly below

Roy, I can achieve those sort of figures if I only take a single journey. The other week I averaged 48mpg on a trip to Manchester for the motorway section, but the overall journey came down to 37 when I added in the non motorway sections on the brim to brim.

The instant fuel reading varies from 25 ish in the motor at when cruising to above 50, even higher on downhill sections. I assume the 25 is when a regen happens.
