Default Update

The worn tyre remedy turned out not to be the problem after all. The vibration came back after a couple of days. I was being driven in the car and was sitting in the back . The vibration was more evident and seemed to be coming from the N/S rear wheel. I took off the rear caliper and filed the brake dust and rust from the edges that the pads slide on . This cured the problem straight away and it has not come back some 4000 miles later. I also cleaned the O/S caliper as a matter of course. I hope this saves somebody some time and hard cash. Derek

check to make sure the mounting face of the front hubs are totally free of rust and nicks or burrs as any of these can put the disc slightly out giving the feeling of the disc being warped, also make sure the disc is properly centralised on the hub before doing up the mounting screw as it is possible to get it slightly off centre and this can give a vibration problem as well.
