Default early temp gauge needed- old 245 dash style

Hi everyone-
Having now rebuilt a rather leaky cooling system, I'm left needing a new temperature gauge unit- it reads hot when an independently wired gauge doesn't.
My car is a 1979 245 with the 'early' style dash and instrument cluster ('square' instruments and little rev counter in the middle and no upper radio hole)
Anyone have one laying around or know where I can find one??
I think this is the model before the temperature compensating wotsit.
Thanks,
Brian

Ah- is it a little rectangular thing on the green circuit board? I have a spare circuit board from a late 140- might this work- or is it a different part?
Thanks,
Brian

Yep - if you look at the more recent updates in my project thread (also early dash) I also had the same problem....turned out to be the voltage stabilizer. Im not sure a 140 one would work (IIRC I was told it wouldnt by brookehouse volvo), but trying it cant do any harm...

Apparently these voltage stabilizers off the early dash style were prone to going - so much so that my first replacement didnt work either and after a lot of head scratching I tried a second one and vuala! It worked again!
