Default Oil leak

Hi

I have recently bought my second S60 D5, it's newer than my first one that was a 2003, this one is 2007 and has the E4 engine.

I have already had a number of minor issues with a blocked DPF, broken swirl arm etc.

The latest problem is that its got a fairly large oil leak that looks like its coming from the back of the engine (turbo side) somewhere. It looks like it could be the turbo oil feed and or the sump gasket, possibly back side of the rocker cover, its hard to see without taking bits off.

Has anyone any suggestions of likely culprits before I start pulling it to pieces, i can tell that it is fortunately not the crank shaft seal as the bell housing is dry as a bone.

Thanks

The other possible culprit back there is a core plug on the back of the block. Chucks out quite a bit when they go.

How much oil are you losing and is it overnight, or very gradually?

Had that plug pop on my V70, actually it had popped prior to me buying it but it shoots oil out on brisk acceleration and clarts *(Och Seamus, tis awful, the sheep have the clarts since i put them on turnips..) *the back of the engine and driveshafts and also hits the hot exhaust creating a lovely plume of smoke behind you to let other road users see that something is embarrasingly amiss wiith your car....

Ditto on that, bought a V70 of a certain auction site with an oil leak, and the core plug had popped out on that.....drained the engine in 80miles!!
Twas not a good intro to Volvos... if you can get the engine cover off the underneath run the engine and look for oil coming out of a small hole at the bottom of the clutch housing...

The 'plug' i refer to is at the rear of the block in line roughly with the top engine mount, nigh on impossible to see from above but when you are underneath its above the sump gasket line and just above the level of the o/s shaft,,,,4-6 inches along the engine from bell housing.
The aperture is upwards facing. New plug is only a couple of squid.

Of course it may be your turbo oil return after all..
