Onboard Telephone Troubles
Hi all,
The other week I decided to get the onboard telephone working. I went to O2 and got a pay as you go sim with a tenner on it. Put it in the phone, it registered ok and worked. Manually added all of my contact numbers to the phone and all was fine. Now I notice three weeks later that only one of my contacts show up on the phones memory. I did notice that when driving home tonight and trying to access the memory, at times it was telling me via the DIM something like 'de-activated when driving' or something to that effect. The phone still works fine for incoming and outgoing. Tonight I have put the sim in another phone and re-done all my contacts and saved them to the sim. I put the sim back in the car and used the function to copy all contacts to the phone, which it says it has done with no errors. However, none of the contacts are showing still. I can use the search facility to find those contacts but this requires touching the keypad with a letter on it and of course making the use of the phone illegal when driving. Any ideas on this? I believe the phone has an internal battery backup, could this be knackered? |

There is an optional security setting: you can't reach several menues while you are driving (e.g. phone book, text messages).
I will try to link some menu map showing how to activate or de-activate this lock.

Hi, I had a problem where the phone was not receiving any texts, I found by chance that there was a limit of 10 texts that the phone could store and would not receive any more until the texts could be deleted. Perhaps there is a limit to the number of contacts that you can store on the car phone? Cheers

Thanks for the replies.
All sorted and working now. Spent some time removing duplicate contact entries and learning the system. Not being able to operate functions when over a certain speed is a safety function that can be disabled in the phones menu's Not a bad system, I am quite liking it. Just hate it when I get a junk text from 02 and the notification is a horrible loud beep in my left ear. Don't think you can change the incoming text alert tone though. |

Phone pairing
Not got used to the forum protocol yet so if I shouldn't have posted this here, I apologise.
Does anyone out there know if there is some way to pair my mobile phone with the in car phone on my S40. There is no Bluetooth on the car phone and I cannot get a duplicate SIM to put in the car. Swapping SIMs is a pain in the bum and having a seperate number for when I am in the car is ridiculous. Is there some sort of electrickery that I could install? Thanks in advance. Ron. |
