The Black 700 was protoype for ETCC when they withdrew the 240Turbo... the next time they played with something similar it was red (so it looked like my car) and was an 850.... we all know what happend next....

I was talking to Claas (but I've forgotten his surname) who runs Volvo Heritage (I think that's what he does... he's name checked in the current Driver for the C70 article) about the 263... he thinks it's probably the ugliest thing that Volvo ever produced, and he's seen nearly everythin that's been made!!!

I know that Fawcetts in Newbury made a pickup out of either a 200 or a 700 that had been shunted up the back as an apprentice exercise when they had their own body shop; it was used to transport panels and exhausts around as it had the length to do so

Did that just prior to scrapping it.Only thing is I didn't want to after the roofchop as I got hooked at the easy possibility of it all, moving the tailgate plus roof and hinges looked so right compared to the usual flat piece of steel that most use for the rear bulkhead. But sadly she had to go.I still have two sat waiting for me to get my backside into action. One may become a trailer as the windscreen surround is non existant and the floor has rotted as a result. The other is a GLT estate which may become a restyled lets make a subtle statement kinda car??

Now now jim stop teasing me!you know I would love a 240 limo.I even spotted a 740 limo today and it's just down the road from me,it's light blue and has some sort of bonnet emblem. So if you live in Launton,Bicester stop winding me up with your lovely long limo.

I was interested when you first posted this [in another thread], and it's OK - at least you got a large pick-up. As you've got another vehicle (tho' preferably not a GLT) why not try the roofchop at the 'B' pillar [= bigger pick-up], or at the 'C' pillar [= smaller pick-up, but you can have the two rear seats -- like in ISUZUs, some Mitsubishis] -- with the drop-down type of tailgate that was on the 120 estate? It's worth a try - would get a good deal of interest at Club shows - and might give rise to other variants!
