Default 12 V Charging

I have recently returned to the Volvo flock after a couple of years away, don't worry I was in London and not driving anything!

I have just bought an S40 1.8i on a 51 plate and love it, it drives like a dream and corners so well. I did however treat myself to a sat nav and perhaps I am being stupid but no 12 V cigarette lighter socket is obvious to charge it and I am worried I might have to send my sat nav back. I amy be being stupid, I do that, but I cannot find a solution.

Can I buy an accessory? Is there a solution?

On mine it is in the ashtray.I found it annoying to have to have it open for the sat-nav, phone charger etc, so fitted two extra ones in the back of the single din slot, and one in the boot for my electric cool-box. But that's just me... hehe

Installing the two sockets in the single din was a very simple job using two flush-mount sockets from Maplins along with an inline fuse.

The one in the boot was easy enough as I had already installed an amplifier and subwoofer, so just tapped into the 12v supply for that.

The tricky bit in the boot was using a relay so that the boot socket is only powered up when the ignition is on to prevent the battery being flattened. That was only as I have a tendency to leave stuff plugged in, and with it being in the boot that was even more likely. I again used Maplins for the parts and have to say it was a satisifying job but not simple.
