Just been mulling your camber adjustment, how clever did you get? Or did you just remove all the shims that were the same size from the top wishbone?

Just wondering because I've got 4 shims, one on each bolt for the upper wishbone, each is the same thickness, about 4mm, there are then thin ones that vary with position on the car.

Tempting to do seeing as it's all in bits and springs are one the way from Rob H! Any views on Roll bars front and rear? I was going to sort out the stock setup seeing as my bushes were all goosed and see how it is.

Cheers,

Sam

The chap who did it for me used the Rob H spec and I guess would involve removing the shims but that's a dark art!

Never bothered with an AR bar as like what I have. I've added two pics (i hope) that show what we managed to do, both cars doing the same test at the same speed at virtually the same spot. Guess which one is mine!

Maybe it's the colour? Maybe all red ones do that? Looking desperately at the cone while it scoots straight past you is a familiar feeling!

I think I'll measure all the shims and see, let's face it, I can put them all back in if I stuff it up. Plus my road tyres are all ex 740 ones on steelies so I can afford a bit of funny wear. The monster rally Colways we got are over the top, we went silly and they are knobblier than my old landy, I don't think they are helping much.

But you've got to look the part as well! The original spec is 165x15 like a bicycle tyre, I use Colway Rally Plus 185/70 x 15 on standard rims and like them a lot. The Emjo is also good. Chums use the Maxsport RB3 to good effect. Would like to try the Dunlop but cost too much.

Ahh, I've got Greenway Atacamas on! Only Joking! They are Rally plus but 165 by 15 and yes, I think they are too skinny, they roll like hell and corner on the rim so I've eaten the edges off the front ones, I think one more event and they'll be done for.
I wonder if anyone else is enjoying this thread, it's very useful.

...so, back onto original topic, radiator has been repaired! A nice easy job for a change but then I haven't seen the bill for it yet!

Only a couple of weeks left before we head down to Cornwall for LeJog, should have been three 144's out but we've lost one so that's our marque team trophy aspirations gone! That does mean a space for any 142/4/5 owner who fancies stretching the legs of their pride and joy..........It's only 1500 miles in three days so no pressure (much).

Should be fun whatever.

Would love to! However lack of funds restricts LeJog entry, plus see the rest of this thread for how together my 144 is! I'm in Cheshire so if anything falls off on the way past do let me know! Also what's the dimensions of your rad?

Will do. Not sure where we will be heading yet. The Sunday map list seems to take us from Telford via Derbyshire to Carlisle!

My wife picked up the rad so i'll check sizes when I get to it.

I would strongly recomend getting the steering angles et up properly tbh. It makes a massive differece to cornering. If you play with the shims you are more likely to make cornering worse.

Hi Classic Swede,
Yes, you are right, despite my flippant writing style I'm not quite as flippant when it come to messing about with really important bits of cars. I will be re-checking the whole lot and driving about for a few months then considering the next move. However, it does understeer like the Flying Scotsman or summat so we were pondering how to tighten that up. The majority of the stuff I do is low speed round the cones tests, not 100mph+ yomping through forest, which would scare the hell outta me!

Cheers!
